I’m Emma. Whether you’re a small business owner, a professional working in governance, or simply curious about cyber security, I’m glad you’re here.

I wanted to start this blog by sharing a little about my own journey into the ever‑changing world of cyber governance and compliance, and why I believe practical, down‑to‑earth conversations matter so much in this space.

My route into cyber security was not the stereotypical “tech genius in a dark room”.

Instead, it has been about real‑world problem solving, coffee‑fuelled evenings, and a lot of conversations — sometimes about risk assessments, sometimes about the best biscuits for a study break.

I began as a lecturer at the University of South Wales, focusing on governance, risk, and compliance. These areas often sound far more intimidating than they really are.

Over time, I saw how learners, colleagues, and even experienced professionals benefited most from:

Practical guidance that could be applied day‑to‑day

Cyber security became less of an abstract checklist and more of a normal business activity.
